Fleet Management
Overview of Fleet Management — vehicle maintenance and trip booking.
Fleet Management in FMX covers two things: keeping your vehicles maintained, and booking a vehicle and driver for a trip.
Vehicle maintenance uses tools you already know
A vehicle in FMX is tracked as a piece of equipment, so vehicle maintenance doesn't have its own separate system — it uses the same tools as everything else:
- Something's wrong with a vehicle? That's a Work Request, filtered to Fleet.
- Scheduled service or inspections? That's a Work Task, filtered to Fleet — time-based (like an annual inspection) or meter-based (like a service every 5,000 miles).
Everything in those two sections — statuses, priority, occurrence lifecycles — works the same way for vehicles as it does for any other equipment.
What's actually new here: Transportation Requests
The one genuinely Fleet-specific concept is the Transportation Request — booking a vehicle and a driver for a trip. See Transportation Requests for how that works, and Trip Finalization and Mileage for how mileage and cost get recorded once a trip is done.
Whether your organization uses this
Transportation Requests can be turned on or off per organization, and driver assignment, vehicle assignment, and finalization can each be enabled independently — so what you see may not include all of these steps.
