Overview of the Equipment registry — the physical things you maintain.

Equipment is FMX's registry of the physical things your organization maintains — HVAC units, boilers, vehicles, machinery, and anything else you track and service over time.

This is the foundation several other modules build on

Rather than being its own isolated feature, Equipment is what a lot of other modules point back to:

  • Work Tasks can be scheduled by equipment meter readings.
  • Fleet vehicles are Equipment records with transportation enabled.
  • Capital Planning uses equipment's installation date and estimated lifespan to plan replacements.
  • Inventory items can be linked to the equipment they're spare parts for.

What's covered here

Who sets this up

Equipment is set up and maintained by facilities staff. Building occupants don't browse the registry directly — when they submit a Work Request, the relevant equipment is already tied to that request type or location rather than something they pick from a list.

Whether your organization uses this

Equipment is an organization-wide feature that's either on or off. If you don't see it, your organization hasn't enabled it.
