Capital Planning
Overview of Capital Planning — long-term budgeting for equipment replacement and capital projects.
Capital Planning is a separately licensed FMX product for planning long-term capital spending: replacing aging equipment and budgeting multi-year projects before they become urgent.
Capital Projects build on Work Requests
A Capital Project isn't a separate system — it's a Work Request with capital-specific fields layered on top, like a planned start/end date and a total estimated cost. It moves through the same lifecycle you already know from Work Requests. See Capital Projects for the fields specific to this view.
What's new here
Two things are unique to Capital Planning:
- Asset Replacements — a view of your equipment ranked by when it's due for replacement, based on installation date and estimated lifespan. See Asset Replacements.
- Scenarios — a way to model different what-if plans (different timelines, different budgets) without touching your live projects, and compare the cost impact side by side. See Scenarios.
Whether your organization uses this
Capital Planning is a standalone licensed product, not something every FMX account has. If you don't see it in your navigation, your organization hasn't licensed it.
