Equipment Logs

The work history recorded against a piece of equipment.

Every piece of equipment builds up a log of the work done on it over time.

What shows up in the log

  • Ad-hoc entries — a note added directly, describing work that isn't tied to a Work Request or Work Task.
  • Work Request activity — when a Work Request is done against this equipment, it shows up here too.
  • Work Task activity — the same is true for scheduled Work Task occurrences.
  • Assignment changes — when staff are assigned or unassigned as responsible for the equipment.

What each entry can include

A log entry can carry a cost (a general cost, plus labor cost computed from time logged and inventory cost from parts used), a meter reading taken at the time of the work, and any custom fields your organization has set up for that equipment type.

Why this matters

Because logs pull in activity from Work Requests and Work Tasks automatically, you don't have to duplicate the record — looking at a single piece of equipment's log gives you its full history regardless of which module the work came through.
