Receiving Shipments

How to record what's arrived on a Purchase Order, including partial shipments.

Once a Purchase Order has been purchased, receiving records what actually arrives.

Partial shipments are supported

Not everything on an order has to arrive at once. You can receive a shipment against a Purchase Order multiple times, recording how much of each line item showed up each time. FMX keeps track of how much of each item is still outstanding, so you always know what's left to come.

What happens on receipt

Recording a receipt recalculates the order's totals based on what's actually been received. If the order includes inventory items, receiving also adds that quantity to Inventory automatically — you don't need to separately log the stock increase.

When an order is done

Once every line item has been fully received, the order moves to Completed. If an order isn't going to be fully fulfilled, it can also be force-closed rather than left open indefinitely.
