Buildings & Resources
The location structure that other FMX modules reference.
Buildings and Resources are the location backbone that everything else in FMX — Work Requests, Equipment, Inventory, Schedule Requests — ties back to.
Buildings
A Building record tracks the basics: address, phone number, square footage, and its own entrances. It can also override organization-wide settings for operating hours, approval workflows, and tax rate, if it needs to behave differently from the rest of your organization.
Resources
A Resource is anything within a building worth tracking as its own organizational unit — a room, a piece of shared equipment, or another bookable item. Every Resource belongs to a Building; there's no such thing as a freestanding resource not tied to a location. See Resources and Bookability for how these work, including how they connect to Schedule Requests.
Floor plans
If your organization has licensed it, you can upload a floor plan image for a building. This is an image you can view, not an interactive map — it doesn't plot resources or equipment on it automatically.
Who sets this up
Buildings and Resources are configured by administrators. Everyone else interacts with them indirectly — picking a building on a Work Request, or a resource on a Schedule Request — rather than managing them directly.
Whether your organization uses this
Buildings and Resources are foundational and always available — every FMX organization has them. Floor plans specifically are a licensable add-on.
